Spectres, haunts, poltergeists and other paranormal beings don’t have a ghost of a chance when Timothy Krantz goes looking for them.

Krantz is the founder and lead investigator of a company called GHoST-Ghost Hunters of South Texas-operating out of Lyford, Texas.

The organization is made up of a team of six paranormal investigators who utilize scientific instruments to track down unexplained phenomena relating to ghosts and other eerie occurrences.

“This is a serious business,” he said. “We don’t do seances, and we don’t mess with ouija boards. We use night vision cameras and recorders that pick up a wider range of sounds than the human ear can detect.”

The company does not respond to emergency sightings of ghosts, Krantz said. “We’d never get any sleep if we published our phone number,” he said. “Any serious ghost experience is related to a particular location, and it’s never a one-time thing. A genuine apparition will return to that location again and again.”

He told about one investigation of a reported haunted house. He and his son set up their instruments and prepared to spend the night in the place. “During the night we heard three loud bangs in the attic,” he said. “My son left and refused to return.”

Krantz would not reveal specific locations he has investigated. “We respect the privacy of our clients,” he explained. “We don’t identify them without their explicit permission.”

He expressed interest in the stories about ghost sightings in the old Champion building in Port Isabel, now one of the city’s museums. He hoped to get an invitation to check it out.

“This is a hair-raising job sometimes,” he said. “I believe in ghosts. That’s what got me interested in this kind of thing. I’ve had my own experiences, and I’m curious.”

While his company does not publish a phone number, assignments are accepted from people who contact him by e-mail, he said. The address is texashauntings@aol.com
